A Strong Woman vs A Woman of Strength
Unknown
There's a poster in my room that inspires me to be a woman who's different. The only thing is it's been there so long I took no notice of it anymore. In my move up, however, my eyes fell upon it, and I went, 'Hey, I remember you! I think I'll take you along with me.'
So now it's posted on the wall in front of me. Thought I'd share with you. Enjoy. =)
A strong woman works out everyday
to keep her body in shape...
But a woman of strength kneels in prayer
to keep her soul in shape...
A strong woman isn't afraid of anything...
But a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear...
A strong woman won't let anyone get the best of her...
But a woman of strength gives the best of her to everyone...
A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same in the future...
A woman of strength realizes life's mistakes
can also be God's blessing and capitalizes on them...
A strong woman walks sure-footedly...
But a woman of strength knows
God will catch her when she falls...
A strong woman wears the look of confidence on her face...
But a woman of strength wears grace...
A strong woman has faith
that she is strong enough for the journey...
But a woman of strength has faith
that it is in the journey
that she will become strong...

Good post and nice blog you have there.
You don't see so much rhetoric on how men are supposed to be and how they are not supposed to me. We don't split hairs between being a strong man or a 'man of strength'. The constant instructing of a woman's role is demeaning to women, and it occurs in nearly every religion not just Christianity. There is nothing wrong with being a strong woman and there is certainly nothing wrong with exercising regularly to keep healthy and strong, in a culture that would like women to be obsessed with *what our bodies LOOK LIKE* (i.e. our fuckability rating) rather than *what our bodies can do* - let alone what our minds, will, feelings, personality and spirit can achieve. Be strong women, be proud to be strong women. I agree, Texas 91.
Thank you, anonymous commentator. It's been two years since this post and my perspective has changed. I agree with you and Texas91. :)
