Maybe you're a player in the game of love. Maybe you're not. Maybe you're considering it. Wherever you are, I share with you a poem. Read it from both the author's and reader's perspective.

"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."

Left Beating
When you hold my hand, you hold all of me.
With you as guide the future I can see;
But sometimes I think of the soft hands you've touched,
And wonder if my hands are soft enough for thee.

When you put your arms around me, I am safe.
Troubles may arise, there's always you to call.
But sometimes I think of those you have hugged,
And wonder if I am really safe, after all.

When you look at me, your eyes captivate,
The pull so strong I have to look away.
But sometimes I think of others captivated,
And wonder if I could ever hold your gaze alway.

When you smile, I can't help but smile back,
The fount of happiness overflowing inside.
But sometimes I think of smiles in the past,
And wonder if one day your smiles will subside.

When I listen to your heartbeat, I long
For my heart to beat in rhythm with yours.
But then you gave your heart away in parts,
And I wonder if there's any of your heart
Left beating for me.
